The Karma theory is a religious fable. The Karma theory is based on the birth entity, whereas the Self is birthless and deathless.
From the standpoint of the birthless Self, the experience of birth, life, death, and the world is merely an illusion. Thus, the karma done on the illusory Self within the illusory world is bound to be an illusion.
The person who bases on the birth, life, death and the world is trying to find the meaning of life. There is no meaning or purpose of life because life is merely happening within the dualistic illusion or Maya (universe).
Thus, the karma based on the physical entity is based on the birth, life, and death, which is part and parcel of the illusion.
Action & reaction is a theory based on the false self. You are the false self within the dualistic illusion or Maya (universe).
Action means karma. If one accepts the form (you or ego) as the ‘Self’ then the karma theory becomes the universal principle. If you accept the fact that the ‘Self’ is not you but the ‘‘Self’ is the Soul’, then the world in which you exist is a dualistic illusion or Maya.
Sage Sankara: ~ “Action (karma) cannot destroy ignorance, for it is not in conflict with or opposed to ignorance. Knowledge does verily destroy ignorance, as light destroys deep darkness. -Atma Bodha
By accepting the karma theory, one is accepting the unreal as a reality and permanently remains in the clutches of dualistic illusion or Maya.
The dualistic illusion or Maya is present in the form of the ‘I’.
The ‘I’ is present in the form of the mind.
The mind is present in the form of the universe.
The universe appears as waking or dream (duality) and disappears as deep sleep (nonduality).
Thus, Karma theory is a hindrance in the path of truth because one accepts the false self’ as real Self and false experience as a real experience, and he thinks all his action will yield fruits.
Thus, he will remain permanently in the realm of unreality or ignorance. Without getting rid of ignorance, truth realization or Self -realization is an impossibility.
Religious orthodox think that through their good karma and performing rituals, they get moksha.
There are two kinds of audiences - the ordinary ones who desire the transitory heaven and other pleasures obtained as a result of ritual sacrifices, and the more advanced seeker who seeks to know the truth beyond the form, time and space. The religious orthodoxy is meant for the first audience, to help lead its followers along the way. The Atmic path, emphasis on the Advaitic wisdom, is meant for those who wish to acquire Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana.
Although Sage Sankara puts the mystic goal highest in his mystical books, he is careful to say that this goal leads to Brahman, not that it is realization.
That is why Sage Sankara: ~ VC- Let erudite scholars quote all the scripture, let Gods be invoked through sacrifices, let elaborate rituals be performed, let personal Gods be propitiated---yet, without the realization of one’s identity With the Self, there shall be no liberation for the individual, not even in the lifetimes of a hundred Brahmas put together (verses-6)
As one goes deeper in annals of history he becomes aware of the fact that the so-called present Hinduism has adopted many things from Buddhism, the religion of Abraham, Jainism, and Islam. If one goes deeper enough, he will become aware everything is mixed up and messed up in time.
No one is taken pains to rectify it because; because people have been inherited them, from their ancestors, and they think it is blasphemy even to hear anything against their inherited religion and belief. Once one gets involved with the religious class, it is the end of the pursuit of truth.
The orthodox Advaita is based on a dualistic perspective, but Advaita philosophy bifurcated from the theistic (dualistic) perspective is the real Advaita (non-dualistic) propagated by Sage Sankara.
The seeker has to drop all the orthodox based theories in order to tread the path of wisdom.:~Santthosh Kumaar
