Japa is based on the name of the personal God whereas God is impersonal because God is the Soul, which formless, timeless and spaceless existence.
If the God is formless, timeless and spaceless existence then God is nameless. If the God is nameless, how can by repeating the God with the name will yield fruit.
It is necessary to know what God supposed to be to realize the Gods you believe and worship are not real Gods according to your own scriptures.
Kena Upanishad (5) Chapter I –“That which cannot be expressed by speech, but by which speech is expressed-That alone know as Brahman and not that which people here worship.
Kena Upanishad (6) Chapter I – “That which cannot be apprehended by the mind, but by which, they say, the mind is apprehended-That alone know as Brahman, and not that which people here worship.
Kena Upanishad (7) Chapter I – “That which cannot be perceived by the eye, but by which the eye is perceived-That alone know as Brahman and not that which people here worship.
Kena Upanishad (8) Chapter I – “That which cannot be heard by the ear, but by which the hearing is perceived-That alone know as Brahman and not that which people here worship.
Kena Upanishad (9)- Chapter I –“ That which cannot be smelt by the breath, but by which the breath smells an object-That alone know as Brahman and not that which people here worship.
No duality, no differentiation. Only Atman exists.
Bhagavad Gita: ~ “brahmano hi pratisthaham” ~ Brahman (God in truth) is considered the all-pervading consciousness which is the basis of all the animate and inanimate entities and material. (14.27)
It proves that the all-pervading Atman, which is present in the form consciousness, is God. Thus, worshiping the form based Gods is meant for the ignorant populace who are incapable of the realizing the truth, which is beyond the form, time and space.
Lord Krishna Says Ch ~V: ~ “Those who know the Self n truth.”. The last two words (tattvataha) are usually ignored by pundits, but they make all the difference between the ordinary concept of God and the truth about God.
~ Know Self in truth means know the Self is not you, but the ‘Self’ is the Soul.
Brihadaranyaka Upanishad: ~ Brahman (God in truth) is the form of the Athma, and it is indeed Athma itself.
Rig-Veda 1-164-46 and Y.V 32-1 clearly mention that God is “One”.
Rig Veda: ~ 'Prajnanam Brahma'- Consciousness is the ultimate reality or Brahman or God in truth.
Do not accept any other truth other than consciousness. Consciousness is the ultimate truth, Nothing is real but consciousness. Nothing matters but to realize the ultimate truth. Consciousness is everywhere and in everything. Let these words be inscribed in your subconscious.
Rig Veda: ~ The Atman is the cause; Atman is the support of all that exists in this universe. May ye never turn away from the Atman, the Self. May ye never accept another God in place of the Atman, nor worship other than the Atman?" (10:48, 5)
Yajur Veda – chapter- 32:~ God is Supreme Spirit has no ‘Pratima’ (idol) or material shape. God cannot be seen directly by anyone. God pervades all beings and all directions.
Japa or repeating the God's name, one will not get Self-realization. Japa is a religious fable. Japa keeps one in the prison of the illusory form, time and space. Japa is meant for the ignorant mass that is incapable of grasping the truth, which is beyond the form, time and space.
The Soul, the Self, should not be identified with individualized God's name, because name represents the form. The form implies duality.
That is why Sage Sankara says: ~ 62. A disease does not leave off if one simply utters the name of the medicine, without taking it; (similarly) without direct realization one cannot be liberated by the mere utterance of the word Brahman.
The seeker of truth is one who is ready to verify and has the courage to accept and reject the truth when he finds out what is truth and what is the untruth. The meek will stick to their inherited conditioning, remain experiencing the duality as a reality. : ~Santthosh Kumaar
