Advaita is the rational truth and the uncontradictable truth or scientific truth. Advaitic wisdom is scientific truth of the whole (universe) declared by Sage Sankara many centuries back and thought only to those of higher intellect who are receptive.
The karma and Upasana, yoga and orthodoxy have to be bifurcated in order to realize the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.
Sage Sankara:~ VC "All this universe, which through ignorance appears as of diverse forms, is nothing else but Brahman which is absolutely free from all the limitations of human thought.
It is this Supreme Oneness which alone is real, since there is nothing else but the ‘Self’. Verily, there remains no other independent entity in the state of realization of the highest Truth."
The battle is between scientific attitude and religious faith. The scientific spirit requires that one has to accept nothing as truth unless it can be verified by experiment. Scientific inquiry is to disprove the hypothesis, not buttress it. Science rewrites its textbooks all the time.
In stark contrast, religious texts are sacred; they are untenable. Science holds a hypothesis untrue if it does not satisfy even one out of hundred conditions. For faithful belief is sanctified, even if it comes true only once in a thousand times.
In the modern age, the proposition that science will replace faith has become an attractive one. Much that was mystery earlier has now been rationalized through scientific discoveries. Inevitably, more mysteries of the present also will be explained in the years to come. But science has its limitations.
For example, it can theorize how the universe began with a Big Bang, but not explain what agency caused it. Scientific theories are also fickle. Science propagates knowledge; it does not necessarily confirm the wisdom of oneness or Advaita.
There is no scientific proof that God exists; neither is there any proof that god does not exist. That is where rational drift outside the scientific path. They make assertions matters of faith, forgetting their own principles. They can say at the most there is no proof of God's existence. They cannot proceed further and assert that god does not exist because it is impossible to verify through scientific experiment.
The reality is that the mass believes in God's existence. The reality is, ideas of God are many and lead to wars and terrorism. Admittedly, there is, at any one time, far greater unanimity about scientific truths, but those truths are merely hypotheses liable to be superseded in the future.
Rationalists are right in condemning superstition as dangerous and harmful. They overstep when assert science has the answers. As of today, it does not. Nothing becomes a scientist more than humility. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
