It is erroneous to use the word ‘I’ for the Self, because ‘I’ represents the form, time and space whereas the Soul, the Self is formless, timeless and spaceless existence.+

To know what God in truth is, we must know what the Self is in actuality. In deeper self-search we become aware of the fact that, our body, ego and our experience of the universe are created out of single stuff, which is the Soul or consciousness.
The word Self refers to Athma, not you. There is no proper English word to refer to Athma. Athma means existence.
Athma is ever nondual in its nature. Athma is the cause of the illusory universe in which you exist.
English word 'Self' translated by the translators of the scriptures of the east and west mislead the seeking world by using the word Self for Athma.
It is high time to correct the past error and move forward in the right direction to reach the ultimate end of understanding and realization.
Due to ignorance, we identify the Soul with the body and we become egocentric.
When we become aware of the fact that, the Self is not the form, but the Self is formless, then we become Soul -centric and realize the fact that, all the three states are merely an illusion created out of consciousness.
Consciousness is the ultimate truth. The ultimate truth is God in truth.
The seekers and move ahead and reach the nondual destination through this mental (inner) journey.

In Spirituality, the word “God” stands for the ultimate truth or Brahman.

Remember:~

Due to ignorance mistaking the physical body for the ‘Self’ he is unaware of the ‘Self’ hidden by the dualistic illusion.

Once he realizes the ‘Self’ is not him but the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness, ignorance vanishes, and he will realize his body and the world in which he exists are created out of a single clay and that single clay is consciousness.

The knowledge of the single clay is Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana or Advaitic wisdom.

A person with the notion I AM BRAHMAN, I AM GOD is ignorant, as he is unaware of what God supposed to be in actuality.

Before saying ‘I AM GOD’ one must realize what ‘God’ supposed to be in actuality. Only an ignorant says ‘I AM GOD’ without knowing what it means.

People say I AM THAT ~ I AM GOD, I AM BRAHMAN. But when Brahman is, how can "I" remain? Only Brahman remains, not I, it is erroneous to use the word ‘I’ for the Self, because ‘I’ represents the form, time and space whereas the Soul, the Self is formless, timeless and spaceless existence.

Some Gurus and Self-declared Godmen say: "I AM GOD." This presupposes that they have the same miraculous and creative powers of God. They do not, however, display possession of such power. Such is the fallacy of their logic.

The Gurus who declare “I AM GOD or “I AM BRAHMAN”- are merely repeating like a parrot words which they have read in the scriptures or heard. It does not prove that they have realized the ultimate truth or God or Brahman.

With bookish or hearsay knowledge, it is unable to prove that everything is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. One has to do lots of homework to realize the Soul, the Self.

Whatever belongs to the dualistic illusion is ignorance. Ignorance vanishes by acquiring Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana or Advaitic wisdom.

When one realizes ‘Self’ is not him but the ‘Self is the Soul, which is hidden by the dualistic illusion, then that instills in the seeker the desire for Self-knowledge or Brahma Gnana or Atma Gnana or Advaitic wisdom.

The seeker must have a firm conviction in the Soul, the God, which is one eternal unchanging reality. He and the world in which he exists is nothing but an illusion created out of the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

The plurality has no place in the nondualistic reality. Advaitic wisdom does not deal with rituals but with the Self-knowledge and the Sage Sankara gives us an insight into the essential nature of the Self, which is hidden by the dualistic illusion. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
